Ms. Funderburg's Policy

  • If you were absent for any reason, place your note in the tray and I will sign it and return it to you.
  • When you return from your absence, sign in your information in the make-up binder. I will write in the binder what needs to be made up and by when. It is your responsibility to get your make-up work and turn it in by the date I have listed by your name. If you don’t do it in the allotted time, it is a zero. No excuses!! Get your missed notes from a buddy! If you have homework to turn in the day you come back, place it in the homework tray, like you would any other day! I will not hunt you down to complete your assignments. Take some responsibility!!

SANDERSON ATTENDANCE PLAN

1. An automated system daily calls the home of every student absent from a class.
2. At five absences, the attendance office will mail home a letter requesting that the parent contact the attendance office regarding the absences.
3. At seven absences, the guidance counselor will initiate parental contact. Intervention strategies will be the focus of the contact.
4. A computer generated letter will be sent to parents following the tenth absence from a class. This letter lets the parent know that academic failure is imminent.
5. Students with more than ten absences in a term, whose attendance file lacks appropriate notes from a doctor, dentist, court, hospital, etc., will receive an “FF/60” for the final grade. Third party documentation should be submitted immediately following the absence.
**For each course, exam exemption is available for Seniors earning a certain term grade and having no more than a prescribed number of absences and no unexcused absences during the term. EOC and VOCATS exams will still have to be taken. The criteria exam exemption is based on grades as outlined below:

A-3 excused absences
B-2 excused absences
C-1 excused absence

For the purpose of determining exam exemption three tardies will equal one absence.
